Camphill Special School has a uniquie relationship with Camphill Academy, a transformative approach to Higher Education. Learning at
Camphill Academy extends beyond the traditional classroom setting and permeates
students’ lives and work through the experience of active service in the
context of community living. Through four years of holistic, transdisciplinary education
in Anthroposophic Curative Education (working with children and adolescents) or
Anthroposophic Social Therapy (working with adults), students engage in an educational
approach that transcends traditional academic learning and that allows them to
unfold their potential to contribute to the healing of the human being, society,
and the earth.Students come from all over the world to work and
learn in participating Camphill communities in North America.
We are an approved scholarship organization in the
PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program.EITC funding

Camphill Special School has rolling admissions for both day and residential placements. Children within the full spectrum of intellectual and developmental disabilities, from borderline to severe, are considered for admission

Transition Program Prepares Young People for Adulthood
The Transition Program incorporates education, therapies, and vocational experiences for eighteen- to twenty-one-year-old students in Camphill’s life sharing model.

What is Camphill Special School?
Camphill Special School is a nonprofit Pennsylvania Approved Private School and Waldorf school accredited by AWSNA and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools that offers day and residential programs for children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities that may include, but are not restricted to, mental retardation (MR), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Fragile X Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, and other conditions associated with intellectual disability. Camphill Special School is part of the worldwide Camphill Movement and the only Camphill community in North America for children, as well as the only Waldorf school in the country for children with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
