School of Curative Education

Curative education is an interdisciplinary approach to the education and support of children and adolescents with special needs. Like Waldorf education, curative education is based on Rudolf Steiner’s spiritual-scientific view of the human being, anthroposophy.

As generalists with a broad range of tools and skills, Certified Curative Educators are sought after as...

  • Leaders in residential and day care for children and adolescents
  • Teachers in curative educational schools
  • Teachers in Waldorf schools dealing with increasing numbers of students with special needs
  • Therapists
  • Human service professionals in a variety of other settings

Worldwide, there are over 550 centers of anthroposophic curative education in more than 40 countries, as well as an international network of about 60 professional training courses.

For an example of what curative educators are involved in, visit The Sophia Project website. Located in West Oakland, CA, The Sophia Project serves children and families that are at risk of recurring homelessness and its effects.
